** This is a level 50 dungeon, with a full 8 members party**
Castrum Meridianum is a very story-driven dungeon with frequent cutscenes. It is also only the second 8-man dungeon in the storyline, so the fights will stay fairly simple to ease you into the larger group content.
As soon as you enter the dungeon, you will see a large number of guards, as well as two Searchlight Terminals. You will only need to pull the guards standing near the terminals, as turning them off will trigger a cutscene and cause the remainder of the guards to flee. Don't forget to grab the coffer which is off to right side of the Searchlights.
1st Boss: The Black Eft
The Black Eft's Abilities:
Photon Stream - (Instant) A frontal barrage of bullets, dealing ~400-600 damage. This is The Black Eft's primary attack.
Magitek Cannon - A large cicular AoE targeted on a random player which deals ~2300 damage.
8th Cohort Laquearius's Abilities:
Overpower - A frontal cone which deals ~1000 damage.
Imperial War Hound's Abilities:
Sanguine Bite - A frontal column which deals damage.
Foul Bite - (Instant) A melee strike which deals ~200 damage.
Imperial Signifer's Abilities:
Thunder - A spellcast which deals ~100 damage.
Dark Blizzard - A spellcast which deals ~300 damage in a circle.
Dark Fire - A spellcast which deals ~300 damage in an AoE around the target.
The only ability in this encounter that can even dent your health pool will be Magitek Cannon. As long as you move out of the ground indicator for it, this fight is will be very easy. As with most bosses, face this one away from the group.
Occasionally, four adds will spawn, two in front of each door. You can tank the boss in front of one of the doors so that the adds on that side are picked up immediately. The off-tank should run to the other door and grab those.
With the boss dead, jump into one of the Disposal Chutes to proceed. Here, you will fight Magitek Reapers, who use the same ability as the first boss, Magitek Cannon. You will also fight Magitek Vanguards, which use Drill Cannon, a frontal column. Make sure you disable the Searchlight Terminal to send a group of Magitek Armor running.
You will also encounter search lights in this area. If you get caught in one, you will spawn two Magitek Death Claws. While these are easy to dispatch, you should try to avoid getting caught.
Before fighting the next boss, run down the hill to the Pump Station. Here, you will find two Unstable Panels. Plant explosives on both and head back to the boss.
2nd Boss: Magitek Vanguard F-I
Magitek Vanguard F-I's Abilities:
Cermet Drill - (Instant) A frontal attack which deals ~1200 damage.
Drill Cannons - A frontal column which deals ~1800 damage.
Overcharge - A frontal cone which deals ~1500 damage and inflicts paralysis.
8th Cohort Signifer's Abilities:
Dark Fire - A spellcast which explodes a ball of fire, dealing damage to anyone in the ground indicator.
8th Cohort Sagittarius's Abilities:
Venomous Bite - (Instant) A melee strike which deals ~300 damage and inflicts Venomous Bite (DoT).
Windbite - (Instant) A melee strike which deals ~200 damage and inflicts Windbite (DoT).
Magitek Reaper's Abilities:
Photon Stream - (Instant) A frontal barrage of bullets, dealing ~400-600 damage.
Magitek Cannon - A large cicular AoE targeted on a random player which deals ~2300 damage.
This boss is very similar to the first boss. The vanguard should be faced away from the group, with the tank dodging Drill Cannons and Overcharge. The adds will spawn in front of all three doors, so tank in front of one of the doors, with the offtank grabbing the adds from the other two doors. The Magitek Reaper that spawns near the end of the fight can be off-tanked and ignored by the DPS.
Grab the imperial identification key dropped from the Magitek Vanguard and head north, where Cid will blast a hole in the door. Here you will find another Searchlight Terminal, more Magitek Armor, and a new type of enemy, a Magitek Colossus. These use Grand Sword, a large frontal slash, and should be faced away from the group. They also use Exhaust, a frontal column for everyone to dodge.
Once you reach the generators, Cid will start working to destroy them, which spawns the next boss, Magitek Colossus Rubricatus.
3rd Boss: Magitek Colossus Rubricatus
Magitek Colossus Rubricatus's Abilities:
Grand Sword - (Instant) A frontal cleave which deals ~700-1200 damage.
Exhaust - A frontal column of air which deals ~1000-1200 damage.
Magitek Field - Grants Rubricatus Vulnerability Down, greatly reducing the damage it takes.
Magitek Ray - (Instant) Selects a random player and deals ~600-1000 damage to the player and all nearby players.
8th Cohort Laquearius's Abilities:
Overpower - A frontal cone which deals damage.
8th Cohort Medicus's Abilities:
Aero - A spellcast which deals ~150 damage.
Cure - A spellcast which heals a friendly target.
Magitek Vanguard H-1's Abilities:
Overcharge - A frontal cone which deals ~2000 damage.
Drill Cannons - A frontal column which deals ~1000 damage.
As with the previous bosses, the main mechanics here are a frontal and adds. One tank should pick up the Magitek Colossus Rubricatus while the other will be picking up all the adds that spawn. You can just pile these up and AoE. Be sure to dodge the Vanguard's Overcharge and Drill Cannons. Other than that, just stay spread out to lower damage taken from Magitek Ray and move out of Exhaust. You can either off-tank the Magitek Vanguard to the side and ignore it, or have the DPS kill it.
Pick up the imperial identification key and head south towards the final undiscovered area. Opening the Magitek Terminal will reveal rows of Magitek Colossus. Rather than fight them, hug left and head up the ramp to disable the final Searchlight Terminals.
When both are disabled, you will come under fire from an aircraft and two Magitek Colossus will spawn. Each tank should take one of them and face them both away from the group. Kill these first and then use the cannons to bring down the airship.
Final Boss: Round One
The Final Boss - Round 1 Abilities:
Photon Stream - (Instant) A frontal barrage of bullets, dealing ~400-600 damage. This is the boss' primary attack.
Magitek Cannon - A large cicular AoE targeted on a random player which deals ~2000 damage.
This fight is similar to The Black Eft, with a twist. There are Mark XLIII Artillery Cannons with Magitek Missle piles near them. Clicking on one of these piles with trigger a Magitek Loader to carry a missle over to the cannon. The current off-tank should fire the cannon, as it deals 3000 damage and appears to taunt the boss as well. When you get aggro from the boss, move it to the center of the room so it does not cleave the cannons.
To make using the cannons more difficult, guards will attempt to kill both the Magitek Loader and the Cannons. The offtank should do their best to pick these up before they do too much damage. If any cannons do die, they will respawn fairly quickly.
The Final Boss - Round 2 Abilities:
Delta Trance - (Instant) A melee attack which rapidly strikes the target five times, dealing ~250 damage per strike.
Aglaia Bite - (Instant) A melee attack which deals ~600-1000 damage.
Roundhouse - (Instant) A whirlwind, dealing ~300-400 damage to all nearby targets.
Stunning Sweep - A circular AoE which deals ~1000 damage and inflicts paralysis.
Angry Salamander - A frontal column which deals ~1200 damage.
Aglaia Climb - A series of frontal blasts which deal ~500 damage each.
Order to Attack - Spawns 7th Cohort Soldiers.
7th Cohort Secutor
Triple Threat - (Instant) A melee strike which deals ~150 damage.
Magitek Colossus
Grand Sword - (Instant) A frontal cleave which deals ~700-1200 damage.
Exhaust - A frontal column which deals ~1000-1200 damage.
Magitek Ray - (Instant) Selects a random player and deals ~600-1000 damage to the player and all nearby players.
The boss will now fight without Magitek Armor. It will deal higher damage to the tank than before and will have an entirely new set of abilities. Everyone should dodge the abilities Stunning Sweep and Angry Salamander. The ability Aglaia Climb is also avoidable by running behind it, though it does not have a ground indicator.
At 75%, 50%, and 25%, it will use Order to Attack, spawning a large number of 7th Cohort Secutors which will all focus on a single target. If these focus on you, don't move and let everyone AoE them down quickly. At 25%, it will use Order to Attack again, but this time it will spawn a Magitek Colossus along with the Secutors. The offtank can take the Colossus off to a corner and leave the group to focus on the boss. The Colossus will despawn when the boss is defeated.
This boss drops 100 Allagan tomestones of philosophy.
